The Commons Akron Innovation Accelerator Pilot Program
Congratulations to the 16 area students who completed The Commons Akron Innovation Accelerator Pilot Program. On Saturday, February 23, student teams presented the findings from their innovation research with four companies –The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Main Street Gourmet, Consolidus, LLC and a local prominent healthcare provider during the Demo Day Pitches. Participating students represented The University of Akron, Kent State University, Walsh University, The College of Wooster, and Stark State College. Special thanks to: Bounce, ConxusNEO, Northeast Ohio universities, companies, business mentors, Harvard Business School Club of NE Ohio.
The program kicked-off on February 2nd at the Bounce Innovation Hub where students worked in teams with area companies and business mentors to research and present how Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) might disrupt their industry. For three weeks, students worked on team challenges, leading up to the presentation day. Topics addressed include: Team Building, Market Research, Customer Discovery, Product Ideation and Development, Peer and Advisory Review, Business Model and Sales, Presentation Design and Delivery.

The Commons Program started in Milwaukee, WI, and is a collaboration between area universities, innovative businesses and the region’s entrepreneurs and is designed to attract, develop, and retain the most talented and motivated minds by blending corporate innovation with mentoring professionals to give students a truly unique, real-world experience. And the program works with the most motivated undergraduate students of ANY major and ANY year in school.
