InnoQuest | Bodies & Brains: Health as a Driver of Innovation + Building Synapses

February 9, 2023 | 8:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Innovation practitioners will convene at MetroHealth Hospital’s New Glick Center for EDGE’s InnoQuest session on Bodies & Brains: Health as a Driver of Innovation + Building Synapses.  “Health” has been a macro-driver of human behavior since we were invented.   This session takes a look at this from two very different angles to help InnoQuest participants realize the opportunities and strategies with health care.

We are excited to showcase MetroHealth’s innovation accomplishments, including how they have incorporated system strategy as a regional healthcare provider, how their mission impacted the design of their new building and campus to be a better corporate citizen, how vision and strategy has led to creative and substantive change in providing healthcare, and how they attract, retain and incentivize employees; and create new value for itself.  They have even changed their organizational constitution to implement a new ventures program, which has launched four companies in the last 18 months – and we will hear from one of these companies.

In addition, we will introduce network mapping and analysis – i.e., maps and metrics that reveal how organizations and communities really work.  Valdis Krebs, Chief Scientist and Founder, Orgnet, LLC, has over 25 years of organizational consulting and has worked with management teams, scientists, marketers, law enforcement, economic development professionals, community activists, universities, healthcare, and hundreds of business and organizational consultants around the world.  We plan to conduct a similar regional network map of innovation leaders in hopes of forging new connections among leaders that are driving change throughout Northeast Ohio.

Join your innovation colleagues as we kick off EDGE’s 2023 InnoQuest season with a voyage of dialogue, inspiration, and goal setting.  As a champion of innovation in your company, you have many balls in the air – from management processes to emerging technologies and markets.  What is new in your playbook this year?  How are you making sure you’re skating to where the puck will be?  How are you keeping score, to make sure you are winning the innovation game?

We’ll feature several fast pitches from both Pittsburgh’s and Cleveland’s start-up community. These are five-minute presentations from entrepreneurs in robotics, AI, consumer products and the autonomous vehicle industries.  In addition, we’ll take a quick sprint through another handful of promising new ventures.  This segment is designed to provide inspiration as well as some support to our emerging start-ups – vital to building a regional culture that supports innovation.

This session will be heavy on small group discussions. Recognizing the value in interpersonal relationships and the volume of expertise among our InnoQuest crew, this will be the time to work through your most pressing innovation management issues with your peers.

Through the InnoQuest Program, participants gain:

  • Best practices in managing and guiding the innovation process
